All of our produce comes directly from the farms and is sold by the farmer that grew it. As a certified farmers market, this is California state law. All farmers proudly display their banner with the farm name, where their farm is and the words “we grow what we sell.”
Unless you are growing produce yourself, it is hard to beat our produce that is typically in our market within 12-48 hours of being picked. Compare this to supermarket produce that is typically several weeks or months old. Fresher produce not only tastes better, it is more nutritious and lasts longer, reducing food waste.
Pets are not allowed in the market per LA County ordinance and California State law 114371(d) h&s. This includes therapy and emotional support animals. This is actively enforced. Please help us avoid fines and enforcement actions from LA County Health Department by leaving your pets at home. Service animals are allowed in our market pursuant to federal ADA guidelines. Please note that service animals that cause disruptions or damages in our market will be asked to leave immediately.
We are often asked how our prices compare to supermarkets. It’s difficult to compare when we are not selling the same quality they are. In our markets, everyone sets their own prices. On produce, sometimes we are cheaper than supermarkets, sometimes we are more expensive.
Our farmers often grow varieties that you will not find in supermarkets. These varieties are often harder and more costly to grow but they taste better. They grow for quality and taste. Our produce also bypasses the efficient yet lengthy supermarket supply chain. There is a higher cost to bring you produce this fresh. But because our produce is fresher, it is more nutritious and will not go bad sitting in your fridge as quickly.
On products like our ranch direct meats, dairy and seafood, we are typically higher than supermarkets. However, our quality is far superior. Our meats are pasture raised and never fed cheap corn and soy. Our dairy is handmade from a small family farm using methods that go back hundreds of years. Our fresh seafood is mostly wild caught with many items classified as sushi or sashimi grade. We are proud to carry a quality not found elsewhere in Santa Clarita.
Our certified farmers market is highly regulated by state and county agriculture officials. All farms are routinely inspected. Agriculture officials perform about 4 surprise inspections every year at our market. They know what our farmers grow, where it is grown and how much of it they grow. If officials are suspicious of anything, they will go directly to the farm for further inspection. Violations are taken very seriously and could include the farmer being removed from every market in the State of California.
Market management does routinely visit the farms that sell at our market. We feel this adds another level of oversight. We are market customers ourselves and this is the produce we feed our own family. We take this responsibility very seriously.
Some farmers are certified organic and will display signs indicating they are. Other farmers do not want to go through the expense and trouble of becoming certified organic and may claim they farm organically. This is not legally enforceable. Feel free to ask our farmers how they handle pest management.
We limit our market to the sale of fresh produce and related food items. To be added to our interest list, please submit your information here.
Our farmers market is locally run by Santa Clarita resident and Market Manager Larry. A customer of the market on it’s first day in 2015, he began selling produce at the market for a farmer in 2018. When founder and longtime manager Greta retired, he took over operations in 2019.
Our market does get busy. While there is limited parking in the lot we operate in, we highly recommend you park in the large free parking structure behind the Laemmle Theater. It is located just across the street from us on the corner of Lyons Avenue and Railroad.
Check our vendor page which lists our current vendors with links to their social media accounts. Messaging them directly via social media is the best way to reach them. If you are having trouble reaching them, please drop us an email at [email protected].
